Fantastic Opportunity: Environmental Officer We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of a leading organization for the role of Environmental Officer based at their head office in Ilkeston Derbyshire. This is a fulltime permanent position offering the chance to effectively manage and coordinate environmental activities both at the company and on client sites. Reporting to the company Directors you will ensure that all environmental targets and activities are achieved in a timely manner.
Role: Environmental Officer As an Environmental Officer you will provide crucial support to the contracts and construction team by producing and delivering Environmental Plans to ensure full compliance with contracts. You will support the improvement of the company s Quality Safety and Environmental culture by maintaining and enhancing the UKAS accredited ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems. This role involves close collaboration with the management team clients and project stakeholders to achieve contract aims develop processes and implement good compliance management practices.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Train and develop the team regarding the Integrated Management System (IMS) and legislative requirements.
2. Manage and maintain an audit regime for statutory and environmental compliance.
3. Ensure all staff are aware of and comply with environmental systems of work and provide sufficient training.
4. Produce and deliver Environmental Plans monitoring these to support operational objectives.
5. Liaise with all levels of personnel and relevant external agencies on environmental matters to facilitate site improvements.
6. Work with Directors and the Contracts Team to foster a positive environmental culture within the company.
7. Lead in the verification of legal compliance.
8. Produce and deliver environmental calendar events ensuring consistency and continuous improvement.
9. Continuously monitor and audit environmental systems and procedures for all sites updating and revising as necessary.
10. Manage the Audit Programme to monitor compliance and maintain external accreditation requirements.
11. Mentor managers in the IMS System to maintain compliance identify trends and encourage performance improvements.
12. Support the business with complex/highrisk environmental issues through advice and coaching.
13. Assist with environmental consents and permits applications and notifications.
14. Assist with the production of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all work activities.
15. Provide detailed monthly reports to inform management about shaping environmental strategy policy and product development.
16. Support and encourage positive employee communication processes building constructive working relationships and leading or supporting meetings as required.
Requirements Experience: The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
310 years of experience in the field.
Excellent understanding of the gas and oil industry (preferred).
Qualification/Experience with CDM 2015 Regulations.
Experience in a complex commercial multidivisional organization.
Solid and uptodate knowledge of practical environmental principles and legislation.
Experience with ISO 14001 audits.
Indepth knowledge of statutory compliance.
Detailed understanding of Environmental Management systems.
Solid understanding of construction and projectrelated safety aspects.
Ability to deal with people at all levels.
Skills & Personal Qualities: The successful candidate should hold a full UK driving license and demonstrate the following:
Understanding of core environmental principles and regulations.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to measure performance against internal and external benchmarks identifying new solutions to business requirements.
Decisive in difficult business situations maintaining focus on business requirements and client satisfaction.
Readiness to make decisions take initiative and produce successful action plans.
Adaptability to changing demands and conditions.
Commitment to developing others.
Willingness and ability to work collaboratively.
Strong IT skills.
Research and auditing knowledge.
