Job summary An opportunity has arisen within the Therapy Department at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust for an individual with a passion to make a difference for patients on our Orthopaedic and Surgical Wards at Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.The therapy assistant practitioner post would suit an individual with experience of assisting patients with rehabilitation goals, supporting patient discharges and providing equipment that may help patients regain independence.
If you have this experience, in an acute hospital setting and would like to develop your skills in Surgical and Orthopaedic care, we would love to have you in our teamYou will be working alongside qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists at both Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital.
Travel between the sites might be required.This is a part-time position with specific core hours and days required, including Saturdays and, ideally, Sundays, as well as Mondays and Tuesdays.We welcome applications for flexible working, with daily working hours open to negotiation.
Main duties of the job The post holder will be expected to work with some level of autonomy, managing their own caseload of non-complex patients, with access to supervision from qualified Therapists.This is a great opportunity to join a friendly, dedicated therapy team, striving to improve our service.
We have regular training for our support staff and your ideas and suggestions on service improvements are always welcome.
You will be supported in your personal development with regular supervisions, training opportunities and a supportive appraisal process.

Person Specification Education and qualifications: Essential Good general education up to GSCE or equivalent.
NVQ level 3 in health-related subject or equivalent qualification.
No HCPC required.
Desirable Evidence of recent study in field of health care and/or rehabilitation.
Knowledge: Essential Understanding of the therapy assistant role within rehab and discharge planning.
Desirable Knowledge of local services for onward referral.
Experience: Essential Significant experience as a therapy assistant in the NHS.
Experience in an Acute environment.
Experience of managing and prioritising own caseload.
Desirable Experience of outcome measures and common rehab techniques.
Experience of working with medical patients
