Job summary The post holder will be an important member of the lymphoedema team.
They will co-ordinate, organise & prepare the smooth day-to-day running of the lymphoedema clinic.
The lymphoedema service sees patients from Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot.
They will work as part of a team and alone working with guidance and direction from administration manager and clinical lead.
They will provide efficient and effective secretarial support for clinical services, hence supporting the delivery of a high quality service to patients and staff.
Main duties of the job The Senior Lymphoedema Assistant has a greater degree of autonomy than the Healthcare Assistant and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures.
The post holder will work on their own initiative, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision in place from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner.
The post holder contributes to assessment and assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.
They will supervise other staff and promote the delivery of high quality care.
The senior lymphoedema assistant will be working as part of the Swansea Bay University Health Board and is based in Singleton Hospital.

Person Specification Qualifications & Knowledge Essential QCF/NVQ Level 3 Understands the principles of confidentiality, the principles of consent prior to undertaking care, principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe Demonstrates an understanding of the scope of the role in the context of a nursing or allied health professional team Evidence of maintaining their personal development Desirable Evidence attendance at courses / study days pertinent to speciality Understanding of caring for individuals with particular conditions Experience Essential Significant experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant Desirable Previous relevant experience in specialty Aptitude and abilities Essential Caring, compassionate attitude to patients and clients, able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Able to organise self and others to achieve delegated task, able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload, prioritise workload and individual patient contact Able to undertake specific procedures involving physical skills commensurate with practice area recording of limb volumes, skin observations Desirable Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh Customer care skills Other Essential Able to participate with a rotating shift pattern Excellent timekeeping and a flexible approach to work Understanding of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate registered professional for expert help and advice
