Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available within the Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at Maidstone Hospital.
This may interest someone who likes a challenge to learn new skillsThis position is for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker, on a six working days shift pattern and will be required to work cross sites if necessary and a rotational shifts EDC as wellWe are a specialty department made up of a small team of friendly mixed ability staff.
Main duties of the job The role exists to provide a multi-skilled worker who undertakes a range of delegated duties under the indirect supervision of a Registered Practitioner.
The post-holder supports the multidisciplinary team with clinical and non-clinical activities, in order to provide holistic, person-centred care.
The post-holder will follow the plan of care that the Registered Practitioner has devised and undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties.
They are key in identifying the deteriorating patient, escalating concerns to the Registered Practitioner in a timely manner.

Job description Job responsibilities Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.
Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment).
The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead ifthis is going to be problematic:), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites.
The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check atEnhanced Level.
(Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children).

NVQ/QCF Diploma level 3 in Healthcare or successful completion of a level 3 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
Functional skills English and maths level 2 or GCSE English and maths grades A*/9 - C/4.
Knowledge Essential Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers (2013).
Knowledge of the common conditions/illnesses/complex needs of patients within the appropriate clinical specialty.
Insight into role and responsibilities of post.
Able to describe the importance of delivering high quality care to patients.
Desirable Knowledge of current healthcare issues.
Skills Essential Able to communicate accurately and effectively with patients and colleagues, verbally and in writing.
Can understand and communicate factual information accurately.
Basic information and communications technology (ICT) skills.
Ability to prioritise workload with supervision.
Able to deliver patient care under the indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse Desirable Additional specific Ophthalmic competencies to include: Visual acuity Snellens/Complog, IOP using icare, OCT, Pentacam, Auto-refraction, Visual Fields, POCT.
