Job summary The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre which hosts the largest secondary and tertiary medical specialities in the country.The Emergency Department sees approximately 90,000 patients per year.

Main duties of the job To demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in the care of patients receiving emergency or clinically urgent treatment in the department.
Continuous assessment of patients and aiding towards the 4-hour target.As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high-quality care.
The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties.The Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of the Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them.

Job description Job responsibilities *Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person Specification Qualifications Essential *Registered Adult Nurse on the NMC register *Teaching and assessing course ( Mentorship or equivalent) *ILS Experience Essential *Substantial post registration experience working in acute setting *Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD *Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment *Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration *Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff *Experience of mentoring undergraduate students *Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department *Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
