The new regionalservice based in Dawlish will offer inpatient support to both adults with alearning disability and autistic adults.
The building and environment will bestate of the art and the service aims to become a centre of excellence.Interviews are scheduled to take place on 16th January 2025 Main duties of the job To provide specialist clinical input into thedelivery of care and treatment at The Brook.
To lead in area of quality improvement and co productionClinically Supervise as appropriate, qualifiedand unqualified staff and students working within The BrookTo provide evidence based clinical support andadvice to other members of the multidisciplinary team.To lead and promote education and staffdevelopment for the continued professional growth of the team members andstudents.

Job description Job responsibilities To provide and receive complex, sensitiveinformation and be aware of and respond to barriers to understanding.
Good negotiation skills to manage conflict in arange of situations within clinical specialism and teams.
Support Key relationships with other Clinicaland professional leads across the unit, Clinical team managers and a variety ofcolleagues and professionals within this and other organisations, Serviceusers, carers and families and agencies supporting the service user.
To ensure effective methods and systems are inplace to facilitate communication with all members of the multidisciplinary team,between ward-based team members, ward members and other areas of the Trust andwider network.
Attendance at meetings to provide clinicalspecialism within the Additional Support Unit/LDA unit as required.
Attendance, participation and organisation atregional special interest groups Sensory Integration, Positive BehaviourSupport, Trauma Informed Care.
Assess to understand and interpret a range ofcomplex clinical conditions and diagnosis including causes of distressedbehavior.
Analyse and interpret service development issueswithin the teams.
Highly developed specialist knowledge of Clinicallead area and working with people with Learning Disability and Neurodiversity needswithin inpatient settings.
Plan and organise complex client activitieswhich require formulation and adjustment.
Practice effective time management to respond tocompeting priorities, balancing a clinical caseload.
Work in conjunction with the other clinicalleads on the unit and team managers to plan and manage a sustainable andeffective service delivery.
Organise meetings and groups to support clinicalwork and continuing professional development for the inpatient team.
Manage relevant research projects.
To develop, deliver and evaluate trainingpackages to a range of audiences.
To manage projects to support development of clinicalunderstanding across the multidisciplinary team and support wider service needsas identified.
Reflect on own practice.
Ability to describe where and how interventionsrelated to area of clinical specialism need to be prioritised and how these canbe delivered as part of a multidisciplinary intervention.
To make sound judgments in a timely manner.
To manage and effectively prioritise clinicalwork in assessing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating highly specialistclinical treatment programmes as part of overall care in meeting the needs ofpeople with complex distressed behaviour, additional mental health issues,sensory or physical impairments and profound and complex needs.
Apply highly specialist knowledge and skills todevelop specialised programmes of clinical intervention to meet the needs ofthose with challenging/distressed behaviour and highly complex needs as part ofan overall team approach.
Ensure own practice meets the standards set outby the Health Care Professions Council/National Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Ensure all records are completed according toDPT policy and protocols.
To advise the Service Manager ASU/LDA on servicepressures and clinical risks.
Ensure clinical effectiveness.
Responsible for ensuring that the requirementsof the Mental Health Act 1983 and 2005 are observed, implemented and adhered to.
Responsible for ensuring that the requirementsof the Mental Capacity Act are observed, implemented and adhered to.
Up to date with clinical practice and researchthrough attendance at appropriate courses, special interest groups, use ofevidence base.
Support complex clients and staff teams duringtransitions.
Assess and review levels of risk as part of the assessment processenabling individuals with complex distressed behaviour and additional mentalhealth issues to engage with treatment programmes.Ensure all practice is the least restrictive.Contribute to policies and procedures for clinicalspecialist area.
Awareness of development needs of the inpatientteam and create development opportunities according to clinical and businesspriorities and professional standards.Create and promote clinical care pathways basedon best practice within the ASU/LDA.Developprotocols for specialised area.Support ASU/LDA staff to use relevanttheoretical frameworks for clinical practice.To explore innovative ways of delivering andimproving patient care.Responsible for contributing to and thedevelopment of Trust clinical policies where appropriate within sphere ofresponsibility.
Clinical supervision of ASU/LDA staff andstudents as appropriate.
Organise and participate in peer supervision.Mentoring staff as relevant.Contribute to PDR appraisal career conversationsfor self and others.Investigate complaints, incidences and criticalincidents in accordance with procedure.Deliver Specialist Training in area.Undertake research in specialist area/link withother staff to develop skills in this area.Design and use audit methods to inform clinicalpractice and support governance.Lead clinical audits in own specialist area.To support clinical staff and the servicemanager to develop robust outcome measures.To lead on development of clinical practice inspecialist area.To critically evaluate research findings anddisseminate learning to wider MDT.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Professional knowledge acquired through degree in Nursing/OT/SALT/Physiotherapy/ supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist training to masters equivalent level.
Excellent presentation skills.
Clinical practice educator for student placements.
Registered to practice by relevant registering professional body (HCPC / NMC) Post graduate qualification in leadership.
Evidence of continued professional development .
Desirable European computer driving licence/similar qualification or level of experience.
Experience Essential Highly developed clinical knowledge of theory and practice of people who have a diagnosis of Learning Disability and Neurodiversity who have complex Mental Health Needs.
Further knowledge gained by specialist courses relevant to inpatient Learning Disability, Neurodiversity and Mental Health .
An understanding of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working across health and social care and with voluntary and independent sector.
Significant specialised experience working with people who have a diagnosis of Learning Disability and Neurodiversity who have complex Mental Health Needs and additional health needs.
Experience in the application of Clinical models to service users with complex needs.
Ability to manage a complex caseload and competing priorities.
Desirable To be able to produce complex written information in a variety of formats for varied audiences.
To develop supportive clinical supervision for other clinicians.
