Job summary We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Biomedical Scientist in Haematology to join our team at UHBW for a fixed term 12month post
The successful applicant will be posted at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
This will be joining the Senior Haematology team, overseeing and helping manage all aspects of Haematology work and the greater team.
Main responsibilities; Routine Haematology and morphology oversight, Haemoglobinopathy and Quality management.
UHBW laboratories teach Haematologists, Clinical and Biomedical Scientists, Medical Laboratory Assistants, Visiting students and other staff.
The successful applicant will have HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist and ideally a Masters degree in a relevant science subject or equivalent.
This is an opportunity to join our friendly laboratory that provide excellent training and further studying opportunities for the right candidate.
The working pattern in this role is rota based.
Therefore, your contracted hours of per week (full time working equivalent) will be calculated across a rota period of 13 weeks in accordance with agenda for change.
Dependant on the needs of the service, your total working hours will fluctuate due to the different length of time of the shifts, however as part of rota management your shifts will balance to be within your contracted time.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential BSc in Biomedical Sciences HCPC State Registration Evidence of CPD Desirable Management/Leadership Training MSc or equivalent in other pathology subject Knowledge and experience Essential Knowledge and experience of Quality System standards and regulations United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), Have an in-depth and extensive knowledge and expertise in Haematology Significant experience of Morphology and Haemoglobinopathies Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and practice applicable to laboratories Knowledge of IT as applied to all aspects of Haematology Desirable Significant experience in using Quality Management Systems Experience of staff management training, supervision, organisational and appraisal Skills and Abilities Essential Knowledge and skills in the operation of Pathology LIMS Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Possess good organisational skills High level understanding of practical and theoretical Haematology in pathology services Presentation skills Supervisory skills Able to participate in development of new methods and policies Ability to oversee the use of routine and specialist laboratory equipment Able to deal with complex problems (technical and personnel) arising within the section as appropriate
