Who we are looking for A Systems Development Manager, who will manage a large team that a responsible for developing, enhancing and supporting our core product.
The Core Systems department is vital to the continued success of the Business, having responsibility for developing and supporting a growing number of critical systems.
You will be working alongside some of the best developers in the industry and will receive exposure to cutting edge technologies, as well as having the opportunity to influence the technical direction of the team.
You will be assisting and supporting the Software Development Team Leaders, alongside the Software Development Technical Leads, in the successful delivery of software to agreed timescales by coordinating and driving the activity and efforts for the development team.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company's hybrid working from home policy.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Experience Self motivation with a can do attitude and a drive to succeed, by leading technical solutions, people, delivery and strategy.
Delivery and results focused.
Experience of being a reflective and adaptable leader.
Ability to be a strong team player whilst building an effective team of technical professionals.
Ability to manage and make well balanced decisions under pressure in a fast paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple streams of activity while shifting focus regularly.
Well organised and skilled in effective time management, people management, coaching, conflict resolution, task allocation, delegation and risk management.
Demonstrable experience of effective communication both written and verbally in an accessible manner to both a technical and business audience .
Ability to focus on the importance of the Business needs.
Main Responsibilities Understanding of the work load and work items distributed amongst the team as well as the larger works spanning the department.
Ensuring the efforts and requirements of both resource and time are understood while assessing impacts, risks and costs in delivering the work within the team, building and maintaining capacity to deliver the Business needs.
Committing to the deliverables of the team and the department for larger works.
Understanding of the technical structure, the domain and architecture of the systems that the team are responsible for and how those systems are configured in the development and production estate.
Working with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate, fit for purpose and simple solutions are defined, planned and produced within the team.
Ensuring there is capacity and capability to deliver the volume of work required of the Business.
Effectively managing the support and development responsibilities required of the team, ensuring 24/7 support is available where required.
Making decisions in time pressured situations, ensuring the stability of the site and service to our customers is paramount to the decision.
Taking ownership of issues and development deliverables in a managerial capacity seeing them through from start to finish.
Ensuring successful and timely delivery of development works for the defined areas of the process you are responsible for.
