Bioinformatician in Protein EngineeringEvoralis, Cambridge, England, United Kingdom (primarily On-site)Join Evoralis to develop enzymes for a circular plastic economy Evoralis, a spin-out from the University of Cambridge, is on a mission to enable the textile industry to become truly sustainable and circular. We use an ultra-fast screening platform to develop enzymes for breaking down mixed and blended textile fibres into their constituent building blocks for the production of virgin-grade textile fibres.In order to further accelerate the discovery and evolution of our enzymes, we are looking for a dedicated Bioinformatician to play a pivotal role in our ultrahigh-throughput workflows, from experimental design to analysis. You will be responsible for integrating modern computational methods with our revolutionary & cutting-edge wet-lab approaches.Key responsibilities:Use computational methods to analyse biological data for protein design, discovery and optimizationExperience in Protein Design & Protein Data miningManage large databases & develop data frameworksAnalyse, manage and organise large datasets generated from various protein engineering campaignsDevelop and integrate data science, automation, AI and machine-learning approaches in protein discovery and optimisationAutomate the capture, organisation and analysis of experimental data generated in the labExperience in using common data analysis packages and bioinformatics tools, such as sequence alignment toolsExperience with Linux environments and version control (git)Good knowledge of R and/or PythonWork with Scientists from different fields as Protein Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry and ChemistryMaintain good written records of computational work and frameworkDesired skills, qualifications and experience:We encourage individuals to apply who have just completed their PhD, looking to transition to industry and work in a dynamic fast paced environmentA Master's or Ph.D degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, or similar discipline, and a minimum of 4 years of related experience working with genomics data - Industry or academiaRecord of scientific publications and/or contribution to the scientific community in the bioinformatics fieldDemonstrated ability to collaborate closely with Scientists across R&DThe drive to work both independently and collaboratively, employing strong organisational skills and attention to detailGood written & verbal communication skillsOur ideal candidate has/Desirable skills, qualifications and experience:Experience with DNA or RNA library designExperience in analysing next-generation sequencing dataCommunicate outcomes effectively internally and externallyWhy Evoralis?Be part of the solution, making plastics and textiles truly sustainable and circularCollaborate with experts from diverse fields with unique perspectivesEnjoy the opportunity for genuine innovationGet in on the ground of a pioneering start-up aiming to revolutionise plastic recyclingPlease feel welcome to apply via Linkedin or email (HR@evoralis.com).Applications will be closed by 4th January 2026.
