Senior Bioinformatician (Genomics)

The Crick is seeking a Senior Bioinformatician to join the Cancer Dynamics Laboratory, working on the MANIFEST research platform.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with the bioinformatics team to perform data analyses and integrate multiomic data types. This includes genomic and transcriptomic features that influence responses and resistance to immunotherapy. The role will involve collaborating with researchers from various backgrounds and institutions, including academic, clinical, and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage data from MANIFEST, TRACERx Renal, and PEACE studies to identify genomic and transcriptomic features influencing responses and resistance to immunotherapy.
  • Perform bioinformatics discovery analyses and integrate multiple data types, including immunopeptidome, spatial imaging, and pathology data.
  • Collaborate with the machine learning team to develop predictive models for response to immunotherapy.
  • Work closely with laboratory staff, software engineers, and AI specialists from the Crick and MANIFEST partners.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance computational pipelines for large-scale datasets.

Person Specification

  • Masters or higher degree in bioinformatics or a relevant discipline with extensive analytical component.
  • Prior experience in cancer genomics, shell scripting, and programming languages such as R or Python.
  • Strong foundation in bioinformatics and good computational skills.
  • Good understanding of statistical approaches for omics data analysis.
  • Experience working with high-performance compute clusters and large-scale datasets.
  • Ability to manage projects, set timelines, and analyze results.
