Senior Mechanical Engineer, Glasgow, to £55K + benefits
A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with small team mentoring / lead experience to join a growing multi-national company and step up into a bigger role.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will undertake a key role in the Engineering department which is the technical authority of the business in the development, design and production of technically sound and viable solutions to our customer’s problems. This position is a hands-on role, combining your Mechanical Design experience with your small team mentoring / lead experience and also offers the potential to expand your skills into a broader department lead / management role. Provide Mechanical Design and Engineering (Solidworks, AutoCAD) expertise to all projects across the department.
• Have overall responsibility for research and development, including all engineering and mechanical designs, material selection, maintaining development schedules, compliance to various design Codes and contract
Confer with management, production, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures required to meet customer requirements.
• Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities to achieve requirements.
• Analyse technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects giving solutions/requirements.
• Assign, direct, and evaluate more Junior Engineers work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
• Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department, service, or company.
• Inspire, mentor, grow and develop engineering talent while providing vision and direction for the team.
Degree/Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering Function (Mechanical) and/or equivalent job experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a related/ similar mechanical engineering role, preferably within a supervisory/ mentoring capacity.
• Experience in mechanical engineering design and analysis in the field of complex machinery.
• Strong SolidWorks skills with the ability to conduct analysis with manual or finite element analysis techniques.
• Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles associated with the design, analysis, and operation of complex machinery.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
