We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Neurosurgery team at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as an Neurosurgery Apprentice . In this role, you will support the team with a variety of tasks, including clinic bookings, preparation for Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, planning patient admissions, and responding to patient queries via telephone and the mailbox.
As a Neurosurgery Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Neurosurgery team in delivering high-quality patient care and services. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience of the essential administrative tasks within the Neurosurgery Department. This will include, but is not limited to patient telephone communication, booking appointments, arranging admissions and preparing multidisciplinary team meetings. This Apprenticeship is supported by senior medical professionals and management, enabling them to learn, develop and build a strong foundation for a career in NHS administration. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment, with comprehensive on-site training.
The position is part of a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship , fixed-term for up to 18 months.

Manage waiting lists, admission data, and patient bookings, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
# Assist with general outpatient clinic bookings, ensuring accurate scheduling and communication with patients and staff.
# Respect patients on the phone.
# Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, consultants, nurses, and administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
# Carry out general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and maintaining patient records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and confidential.
# Adhere to all hospital policies, including health and safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
# This apprenticeship offers structured learning and development opportunities to help you grow professionally and gain practical skills. You will have access to mentorship from senior clinical staff, regular reviews, and training modules related to patient care, healthcare administration, and neurosurgical procedures.
This role is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to pursue a career in healthcare, particularly in the field of Neurosurgery. Training will be provided for the following systems:
# EPIC training provided by the Trust’s EPIC Team and access is only granted once training is completed.
# Sectra training provided on-the-job.
# IEP – provided by on-the-job training.
# eRS – provided by on-the-job training.
# Excel – build on existing skills with on-the-job training.
Training will be provided on-the-job in relation to:
# General Clinic Bookings
Maths and English grades A-C or equivalent.
Experience of running and maintaining computerised databases.
Able to work consistently with minimal supervision.
