Supply Star Recruitment are supporting a Secondary School in Leicestershire who require a Director of Science to join their faculty. FULL TIME, No teaching timetable.Job Overview: As the Director of Science, you will play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of the Science Department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching standards, and student outcomes. The successful candidate will inspire both staff and students, driving a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in science education. This role is ideal for an experienced leader with a strong background in science teaching who is passionate about fostering scientific curiosity and academic achievement.Key Responsibilities: *Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement a clear, ambitious vision for the Science Department in line with the school’s goals.
- Lead and inspire a team of science teachers, promoting best practices and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the department, using data to inform strategic decisions and improvements.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the science curriculum at all key stages, ensuring it is engaging, challenging, and aligned with national standards.
- Lead curriculum innovation, integrating modern scientific advancements and ensuring that students develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure effective assessment practices are in place, including regular analysis of student data to track progress and plan interventions.
- Support the recruitment, induction, and professional development of staff within the Science Department.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, providing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture within the department, promoting teamwork and the sharing of best practices.
- Promote a passion for science through the development of inspiring extracurricular activities, science clubs, trips, and enrichment programmes.
- Implement strategies to support all students, including those with special educational needs, ensuring they are able to succeed and make progress.
- Build strong relationships with students, acting as a role model and inspiring them to pursue careers in science and related fields.
- Contribute to whole-school leadership, actively participating in leadership meetings and initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and promoting the achievements of the Science Department.
- Represent the school’s Science Department in external partnerships, contributing to community engagement and promoting the school’s reputation
