The role of Materials Testing Technician is working on site as part of a team that supports operations. This role is commutable from Magor, Newport, Chepstow, Lydney, Caldicot, Cardiff, Cwmbran, Abergavenny, Merthyr Tydfil, Blackwood, Caerphilly, Llantrisant, Pontyclun and the surrounding areas.Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.Main ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, the role of Materials Testing Technician will be responsible for:Organising and undertaking technical testing to ensure test regimes and workload are met, comply with UKAS and/or Company systems.Support the investigation; and resolve quality issues, advise operations and Site Teams of results and potentially suggest actions for improvementTest procedures – To ensure testing procedures are fully documented, understood and communicated to comply with UKAS standard where required and have the correct equipment available in calibrationSampling & Testing – To carry out sampling and testing in line with contract requirementsEnsuring the quality of the materials is always monitored for both internal and external customers.At times, visiting other Tarmac sites to carry out various sampling and testing dutiesAlways adhering to company Health and Safety procedures.The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Materials Testing Technician will have laboratory experience gained within the construction sector and will possess knowledge of aggregate and / or asphalt testing and production.
