We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Software Development team in Cardiff Bay. ActiveQuote provides Life, Health and Income Protection insurance advice to customers via a wide range of insurers, including Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Vitality, AIG, L&G to name but a few.

We operate some of the UK's leading price comparison sites for Health Insurance, Income Protection and Life Insurance with significant innovations and USPs through our world-leading software. We power some of the UK's leading household comparison sites including MoneySuperMarket, , MoneySavingExpert and GoCompare.

Job Scope

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer as one of the driving forces behind our digital solutions. You'll work collaboratively within our development team, utilizing your expertise in both back-end and front-end technologies by using vast capabilities of Microsoft Azure.

Your role will involve utilizing the .NET Framework, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, C#, Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and more to create seamless, user-centric applications. Experience in Cloud technologies, Agile/Scrum methodologies and having ambitions to deliver high-quality code are pivotal aspects of this role.

You will be using industry best practice and standards to develop new websites and applications and improving existing ones. You will undertake a hands-on development role whilst mentoring less experienced members of the team, assisting with technical discussions, and providing technical assistance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead end-to-end development: from conceptualization to deployment ensuring robust and scalable solutions.
  • Design, develop and enhance our digital platforms using the latest software technologies.
  • Design and implement cloud-native applications leveraging Microsoft Azure services for scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Maintain existing legacy applications.
  • Work in cross-functional teams with other software/data/test/infrastructure engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Partnership managers, and engage with rest of the business to see bigger picture.
  • Uphold quality standards and best practices, ensuring the highest quality deliverables.
  • Take accountability of issues/incidents and lead through to resolution
  • Mentor other team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation when required.
  • To constantly display and encourage ActiveQuote company values of INTEGRITY, UNITY, INNOVATION and PASSION.

Skills & Education

  • Proven experience in both back-end and front-end development.
  • Proficiency in .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP, C#, MVC
  • Proficiency with Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of web services, API’s, SQL databases, and CMS frameworks.
  • Knowledge of CMS framework
  • Experience in responsive web design and familiarity with testing frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Cloud technologies especially with Microsoft Azure
  • Proficiency in Agile development and CI/CD practices
  • Exceptional analytical skills and efficient time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A collaborative mindset and a proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
