We are looking for an editorial assistant to join our small and friendly team at SM&P, a creative Brand and Content studio which has an editorial approach.
Purpose of the role
The editorial assistant is responsible for assisting the team at SM&P to streamline processes for both client projects and our own internal communications. A good understanding of visual and verbal communication, brand strategy and creative production is key, alongside excellent administrative and organisational skills. Fluent written and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
You will be working closely with our core team, as well as our external partners, to produce client-facing assets and oversee the development and progress of projects. The assets required will vary from client to client but will include offering support from concept – assisting the team with initial client bids and proposals – to ideation and implementation.
Tasks will range from producing client assets, production timelines, presentations, and schedules, to conducting brand research, sourcing assets, producing content – both written and visual, website/social media assistance, and organising the internal SharePoint. Our work is as bespoke and diverse as our client base, so adaptability and an ability to work to deadlines is key.
Day-to-day tasks include:
• Assisting the SM&P team with brand strategy, research and development.
• Drafting and producing client-facing presentations, proposals, brand strategy documents and contracts.
• Organising production timelines and editorial calendars.
• Assisting with content production for print and digital purposes. This can range from designing assets, to producing copy for social media platforms, websites, newsletters and/or printed material such as magazines, journals, newspapers and brochures.
• Staying up to date with all incoming and outgoing documents to and from the business and uploading to the internal SharePoint.
• Managing the task list on Trello
• Liaising with and managing relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders across a range of departments (Graphics, Content, PR etc.)
• Sourcing imagery and branding material for both internal and external communications.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have minimum 1 years’ experience in a similar role, either in an agency or in-house environment. They will have worked with or have an interest in working with luxury brands in at least one of the following sectors: lifestyle, hospitality, property, design, travel, architecture, and fashion.
Requirements
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• BA Hons (or similar) in a relevant discipline – e.g. creative production, project management, visual communication/promotion, design for publishing, digital marketing, creative writing/journalism.
• Skilled in G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Office (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Keynote, Trello.
• Skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (e.g. InDesign and Acrobat)
• Working knowledge of operating a CMS (Squarespace, WordPress)
• Working knowledge of email campaign activation (MailChimp).
• A keen eye for detail – you will be required to produce client-facing assets.
• A self-starter who has the confidence to use initiative whilst working under pressure and prioritise effectively.
• Ability to support the team and adapt to the flexible requirements of each client/project.
Desirable
• An awareness of and interest in current trends in the luxury lifestyle sector.
About Us
We are an independent creative and strategic brand agency, with clients in the following sectors: lifestyle, hospitality, property, design, travel, architecture, and fashion. Although we have a core, London-based team, our partners and clients are based around the world. Just as editors are curators of their brands, we help our clients to curate theirs – we work by building bespoke teams of partners for each client. We combine market intelligence, strategic thinking, and industry knowledge with an ‘editorial’ approach to enhancing the user experience in our development of brand strategies, positioning, and identities.
