My client is committed to providing the highest quality of care to children and young people requiring specialist care and support. We seek to employ an experienced Registered Manager with the highest quality and integrity to manage a new home for two children in the Northamptonshire area. We will consider an experienced Deputy Manager who fulfils our criteria below. We are looking for candidates with proven managerial skills in a children’s residential care setting who are passionate about improving the lives and outcomes for children and young people.

The Registered Manager will take overall responsibility for the management and leadership of the home, oversee the day-to-day operations of the home and promote high standards of care and quality service delivery. You will be responsible for the welfare and security of the children and young people in a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment. As the Registered Manager, you will work closely with the Responsible Individual (RI) and directors, having the opportunity to influence not only the day-to-day operations but also the overall culture and practice of the home. Duties & Responsibilities

· Provide strong leadership to staff, monitor performance and progress and be accountable for ensuring that all regulatory requirements and compliance matters are fully met.

· Be responsible for the day to day running of the service ensuring operational manning levels are maintained in line with regulations.

· Support the aims and objectives of a high-quality service ensuring best outcomes for children and young people.

· Fulfil duties as the Designated Safeguarding Officer for the organisation to promote the safeguarding and welfare of the children.

· Ensure that the Home operates in a non-discriminatory manner in providing a service that meets the diverse needs of its children and staff.

· Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements and the Company’s policies and procedures and ensure all required duties are executed in accordance with relevant regulations and minimum standards.

· Empower staff through training and supervision to deliver a quality service to high standards and ensure that children placed in the Home are protected and cared for.

· Maintain the confidentiality of organisational information in accordance with GDPR principles.

· Liaise with the Director/Responsible Individual regarding issues arising in relation to staff, children and placements.

· Investigate complaints and carry out disciplinary action in accordance with the company’s disciplinary procedures.

· Arrange admissions of children and young people to the Home in line with policy and procedure.

· Develop and review relevant documents, including the Statement of Purpose, Children’s Guide, policies, and practice standards and communicate changes to others as appropriate.

· Manage, supervise and mentor staff; organise work patterns and training; and conduct and record regular supervisions and appraisals.

· Demonstrate a working knowledge of, implement and give guidance to staff on the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, The Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Standards Act 2000, Equal Opportunities Policies, , and Local Authority Child Protection Procedures etc. and any subsequent changes to said legislation.

· Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Inspection guidelines, promptly implementing any requirements and recommendations following an inspection or regulation 44 visits.

· Work cohesively and in partnership with external stakeholders to contribute to and monitor the multidisciplinary assessment of children’s needs and their individual care plans.

· Ensure that children and young people receive a service that best meets their individual needs according to the Statement of Purpose, function of the Home and policies and procedures, and children facing crisis are offered appropriate additional support in a timely manner.

· Ensure that health and safety and fire safety regulations and company guidelines are adhered to, addressing regulatory and maintenance action points promptly, keeping appropriate records, and adhering to fire drill procedures in accordance with policies and procedures.

· Implement quality assurance practices that support the company to achieve its objective to continuously improve upon quality, analysing trends and quality assurance documentation to constantly strive to improve standards for children in the Home.

· Manage performance and development through staff supervision and annual appraisal process to promote reflection and understanding. Working in partnership with senior management and human resources to address any issues of poor performance or misconduct.

· Develop, and participate effectively in the on-call duty system.

· Undertake other duties required for the successful running of the service.

Person Specification

Essential

· NVQ or Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Residential Children’s Services or equivalent or willingness to enrol and undertake this on your appointment.

· A minimum of 2 years of experience within the last 5 years working in a senior or strategic role within a children’s residential care setting.

· Experience supporting children and young people with specialist needs.

· Knowledge and understanding of therapeutic approach to childcare

· Ability to manage a team, promote collaboration and use initiative.

· Resilient, enthusiastic and motivated person.

· Calm, approachable manner, adaptable and non-judgemental.

· Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team

· Knowledge of child protection & safeguarding

· Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels.

· Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure and prioritise activities.

· High level of literacy, numeracy, and computer skills

· Ability to drive and holds a current driving licence

Desirable

· Social Work qualification or equivalent

· Psychology degree or other therapeutic background.

· Experience with OFSTED registration for new services

· Detailed and working knowledge of relevant legislation including fostering regulations; safeguarding; and mental health.

· Strong staff management and leadership capability

· Demonstrating the highest level of integrity in day-to-day operations and decision making.

· Be well organised and work under pressure and prioritise activities.

· Ability to work in a team, promote collaboration and work on own initiative.

· High level of literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.

We offer a highly competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum depending on experience and a good package including 35 days annual leave per year, yearly performance bonus, paid day off for your birthday
