Residential Support Worker
The Hennessy Group are recruiting for qualified children’s residential support workers for their children's homes in Hartlepool. YOU MUST HAVE A LEVEL 3 QUALIFICATION IN CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE to be eligible for interview.
Hours: 24/36/48-hour contracts available. Waking nights (4 on / 4 off)
What do we expect from you for our young people?
Working in a Hennessy Group Children’s Home means being a part of a young person’s day to day life. This means being there to support them through the highest highs and lowest lows. Our staff team members are a significant part of enabling our young people to get their childhood back and create pathways to become well rounded adults – this role we have in a young person’s life is hugely rewarding. There will be challenges along the way but there will also be moments to celebrate and moments you will always remember
Who are we and what do we do?
Our homes are all Good or Outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of this. We accommodate young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism and learning disabilities, and our aim is to create Outstanding outcomes for the young people in our care. Our staff team members are fulfilled by the idea of affecting even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate every achievement, no matter how small it may appear – to the young person this could be their biggest achievement.
You’ll take care of the home and our young people through days and nights. There will be times when a young person needs you in the middle of the night, or throughout the day to support them when they are dealing with severe trauma, feeling ill, upset or just unable to sleep -they need someone with the empathy and skills to understand them, and this is where we make our difference to their lives. You will quickly build a rapport and becoming someone our young people can trust in their time of need is what we are looking for. In quieter times we will need you to take care of tasks around the home such as paper work, cleaning and laundry – you will be a good role model.
Every day is different, and we make a difference every day. Everything we do for the young people and the service really matters. It is always recognised and its always appreciated.
What we do offer in return?
We only want to work with the very best. For your hard work, dedication and commitment, we reward you with the best salary and benefits package in the care sector. With us, you’ll get to make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people – plus you’ll get:
* Salary (48 Hours) Base salary of £24,000
* Bonuses: In addition to your base salary you may do up to 4 sleep ins per months, these are paid at £73 per sleep (approx. £3,796 per year), Annual Partnership Share Scheme and Annual Bonus
* Training: A full 2-week induction with our partner training provider and in house certified instructors, plus full 6 month supported induction.
* Holiday: You’ll work hard with HLG, so you’ll be rewarded with 28 days holiday – you are also guaranteed your Birthday off each year and get an additional day to cover this. There will also be paid stand down days for those going above and beyond.
* Progression: If career development is your thing, most of our team leaders and managers have been promoted from within our group.
* Wellbeing: a host of wellbeing tools and advice including employee assistance
* Recognition: We have team member of the month recognition with a monthly reward.
* Enhanced Holidays: for service of 2 years, you will gain 1 day additional leave. For 5 years’ service you will receive and additional 2 days.
* Outstanding environments: All of our services are Good or Outstanding rated with Ofsted, with the very best facilities.
* A recommend a friend scheme: We offer a £200 bonus for all successful referrals every time and without limit.

Our young people come from all walks of life, diverse backgrounds and with different needs – and our workforce reflects that diversity, so that our teams can engage, encourage and inspire our young people to be themselves. You don’t need experience, but there are a few things we’ll be looking for from you:
* A positive ‘can do’ attitude – a team player with a genuine passion for helping others.
* You must be resilient, empathetic and have a genuine passion for young people.
* A full UK driving licence which you’ve held for at least 12 months
* If you don’t have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), we’ll pay for you to study and support you every step of the way
