Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a thriving school in Greenwich, supporting students with a range of special educational needs. This is a full-time, permanent position where you will be working closely with children who have significant learning, physical, or emotional needs. The role involves providing 1:1 support and working with small groups to ensure the children receive the support they need to thrive in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for children with high levels of need, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
Work with small groups of students, assisting with their individual learning needs and helping to implement strategies as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.
Assist with personal care and wellbeing where necessary, helping to foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development, using strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
Collaborate with the wider SEN team to plan, assess, and evaluate the progress of students.
Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in students by fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.
Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.About You:

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, compassionate, and patient, with a genuine desire to support children with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or care setting (experience with high-needs children is desirable).
A strong understanding of different types of SEN, including autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and/or emotional and behavioural needs.
The ability to build strong, positive relationships with children and staff, and work effectively as part of a team.
Good communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to the needs of individual students.
A commitment to providing high-quality care and support, and ensuring all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
