Python is used in CSMS as the backend language in AWS Lambda functions, using the Boto3 package as the AWS SDK (Software Development Kit).
Boto3 allows interaction with AWS services via python scripts (other methods include the AWS console, AWS CLI and Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform)
