SEMH Teaching Assistant
Primary Phase
Southampton

Academics Southampton are looking for a number of passionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school who cater for children aged 5-11 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and behavioural needs.

This is a full-time, term-time, ongoing contract starting ASAP, you must be local to, or be willing to commute into Southampton to be considered. You will need to be available Monday to Friday for this role, as the school need SEMH Teaching Assistants who are going to be consistent in the classroom.

All of the young children who attend this school have challenging behaviours and many have associated conditions and disabilities such as ADHD and Autistic Spectrum Condition, all children have an EHCP so some knowledge of EHCP's would be advantageous.

The school's curriculum follows a child-centred approach allowing their students to experience a mainstream academic experience whilst being supported by a highly skilled and supportive staff team. This also allows the children to become independent learners and become enthusiastic about their learning with hands-on activities and practical experiences.
They also have smaller class sizes to ensure academic and pastoral progress.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. Experience of working in a school with pupils with SEN/SEMH would be an advantage. The suitable person will be passionate about education and supporting and developing children with additional needs, be calm, engaging, empathetic yet firm and have the ability to think on their feet.

This is a great role for anyone looking to work full-time in an SEMH school.

You will need to have or be willing to pay and apply for an enhanced DBS and have the right to work in the UK (ideally you will be based in Southampton, or be willing to commute to the area).

If you feel you are suited to the above position, please apply using the link provided.
