Full-Time Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support)

Are you a patient, caring, and dedicated individual looking to make a real difference in a child's life? We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal child in a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Croydon.

The Role:

Provide tailored support to a non-verbal child, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential communication and social skills.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies that support the child's learning and emotional needs.
Use communication aids (e.g., PECs, Makaton, or similar tools) to facilitate understanding and expression.
Create a positive and safe learning environment to foster the child's confidence and independence.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly non-verbal or communication needs.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn alternative communication methods (e.g., PECs, Makaton, or assistive technology).
A calm, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
Flexibility, resilience, and a passion for helping children achieve their potential.

Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
A willingness to undertake relevant training if needed.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
