We’re supporting our client, a leading global manufacturer based in Telford, who are looking for a Project Manager to join their growing team. The successful Project Manager will have experience in a project management role, with excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
Position Overview: As a Project Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of specific automation/tooling projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards.
The role will play a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our project management processes.
The scope of the role will be automotive automation/tooling programs, where it will be necessary to use strong technical and people skills to manage customer programmes from design / concept stage through installation and commissioning of automated assembly equipment and /or tooling.
Responsibilities for Project Manager:
* Lead launch and buy off activity, organizing projects from concept to production, including customer liaison, design, budgeting and product review
* Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders
* Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets, tracking progress and making adjustments as needed
* Present oneself in a professional business manner at all times, developing customer relationships that provide satisfaction, quality, and company profitability
* Act as the main point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates, managing expectations, and addressing any concerns.
* Estimate and monitor costs and hours to complete specific projects
* Research new or different equipment and technologies for future competitiveness
* Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare progress reports for key stakeholders
* Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective contingency plans when necessary
* Ensure ISO Standard Operating Procedures are followed by Team Members
* Ensure that project teams are following the safety rules, standards and procedures at all times
* Lead the team and conduct business in accordance with the values of the company and an awareness of the employee’s charter and operational principles
About You:
* Flexibility to travel within Europe and beyond
* Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships
* Effective communicator both written and verbal
* Eligibility to work in the UK
* Mechanical Engineering Degree/ Diploma or Recognized Certificate of Qualification in a Mechanical trade AND/ OR minimum 10 years’ experience in automotive assembly / tooling manufacturing environment at commensurate level
* Demonstrable track record in Project Management role with excellent project management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams
* Commercial awareness and customer facing experience
* Knowledge of GD&T / CMM inspection reports
* Strong technical background, with a solid understanding of automated equipment design and integration
* Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Auto CAD and Visual Manufacturing System
* Proficiency in project management tools and software
* Previous budget responsibility
* Prince 2 or other project management qualification is desirable
