Drama Teacher in Secondary School based in Portsmouth

Hours - 8:00am – 4:00pm Temporary full-time

About the School:

The School is a mixed Secondary School for students aged from 11 to 16 years with around 700 students in total. The School is based in Portsmouth. The school was graded as a Good School in its last Ofsted inspection and continues to perform well. 

Qualifications Required:

-          Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

-          Bachelor's degree in Drama, Performing Arts, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

-          Previous experience teaching drama at the secondary school level

-          Strong knowledge of drama techniques, theories, and history

-          Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-          Ability to inspire and motivate students

-          Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment

Job Description:

As a Drama Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the creative and personal development of our students. You will design and deliver dynamic lessons that engage students in exploring various aspects of drama, including improvisation, character development, and script analysis. Your expertise in drama techniques and your ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners will be essential in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

In addition to classroom teaching, you will collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials, organise extracurricular activities such as drama clubs and school productions, and participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities. Your commitment to ongoing learning and your passion for the performing arts will inspire students to discover their talents and reach their full potential.

As a Drama Teacher, you will also be responsible for assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of achievement. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive relationships and supporting the overall success of our drama program.
