About the Company:

A highly reputable and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Stockport is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to work with a wide range of clients, from SMEs to larger corporations, while progressing their career in a supportive and professional environment.

The Role:

As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for preparing financial accounts, managing client relationships, and providing key financial insights. There will also be a small involvement in external audits and supporting the development of junior staff and ensure that deadlines and high-quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as the main point of contact for any accounting queries.

Leading and managing occasional audit assignments from planning through to completion for a wide range of clients, including SMEs and large corporations.

Reviewing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Preparing and submitting VAT returns and other financial reports.

Assisting with tax computations and liaising with the tax team for clients' tax returns.

Providing clients with financial advice and insights based on their financial data.

Supervising and mentoring junior staff members, reviewing their work and supporting their development.

Requirements:

ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.

Strong experience in preparing year-end accounts and financial statements.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff is an advantage.

Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.

High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Proactive and able to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
