About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our team from January 2025. This full-time, long-term role involves working closely with children in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who have ASD, helping them to access the curriculum and succeed in their learning journey. The successful candidate will provide tailored support in a one-to-one or small-group setting, developing strategies to promote positive behaviour and foster independence.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on ASD or other SEN.
• Strong understanding of the needs of children with ASD, including knowledge of techniques such as PECS, Makaton, and sensory integration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Ability to build supportive and trusting relationships with children and foster a safe learning environment.
• Relevant qualifications in special educational needs are desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with ASD, adapting teaching techniques to suit their individual needs.
• Implement tailored strategies and interventions to promote learning, independence, and positive behaviour.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and the SENCO to design and deliver Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each child.
• Monitor student progress, adapting support strategies and sharing insights with the wider team.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive environment, supporting students’ social and emotional well-being.

Perks and Benefits:

As a member of our team, you will join a supportive school community with a commitment to staff development. Benefit from regular professional development opportunities, including training on ASD-specific strategies.
