SEND Teaching Assistant

Full Time (Monday-Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm)

At Career Teachers we are currently working with a primary school in the S5 area of Sheffield who require a Teaching Assistant to work 1-1 with a suspected SEND pupil in Reception (FS2.) They are looking for a resilient Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills to join their successful team immediately.

Your Requirements:

Experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs such as non-verbal Autism on a 1-1 basis.
A recognised teaching assistant qualification such as Level 2, Level 3 or a degree in education or transferable skills.
Team Teach Training preferred, but not essential.
Confident in managing challenging behaviours, defusing situations, and making a calm and positive environment for students to progress in.
A calm, patient manner with a positive can-do attitude.
Experience assisting non-verbal students using visual aids such as PECs and Makaton would be advantageous.Your Role:

You will be working with the class teacher and other members of support staff to ensure that the pupil receives the care required to cater for their unique needs.
You must be able to build trusting and meaningful relationships and ensure that they are engaged in learning and activities.
This is a full-time role starting this September, we are looking for a committed and passionate teaching assistant who is looking to join a successful team of practitioners and really make a difference
