Senior Commercial Manager (International Markets)
Location: Lydney, UK
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000
Primary Purpose:
Lead the Commercial team to improve business efficiencies while adhering to company standards, with limited supervision.

With over 70 years of experience, this organisation specialises in designing and manufacturing modular steel bridges. Their prefabricated components are suitable for both permanent and rapid response applications, including military and emergency situations. The technology offers customisable lengths, widths, and load capacities, engineered for demanding environments. The bridges are constructed from high-strength steel sourced from ISO-certified mills and produced in a fully automated facility, ensuring adherence to top global quality standards. Committed to sustainability, their components are hot-dip zinc galvanised to prevent corrosion, ensuring a service life exceeding 100 years.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the Commercial team, facilitating meetings, quote reporting, and project assignments based on business priorities.
Review cost models and proposals as needed.
Recommend efficiencies within the Commercial department and promote collaboration across departments.
Assist with market development, including structured finance projects and tender opportunities.
Collaborate with partners on integration and enhance group identity within the Commercial team.
Manage inquiries to deliver high-quality proposals and submissions.
Oversee Commercial Contracts from inquiry to project completion.
Negotiate Customer Contract Terms & Conditions according to approval matrices.
Present major project reviews to leadership for necessary tender approvals.
Work with Business Development to organise pricing strategies and cost estimation models.
Accurately communicate Purchase Order or Contract details to project delivery and operational teams.
Manage and issue Letters of Credit, invoices, and other negotiated payment methods.
Support factory planning and stock control processes, coordinating with the Logistics team for export and shipping needs.
Contribute to the Sales and Commercial CRM Database to monitor and report on inquiry progress.
Ensure all activities comply with ethical standards and the company's Business Ethics and Conduct Policy.Minimum Education and Experience:
Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Significant knowledge in a Commercial Export Environment or similar role.
Experience in reviewing contractual terms and negotiations.
Background in manufacturing or construction services.
Experience in developing client offers related to bridges or civil engineering.Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of the technical aspects of products.
Ability to present effectively at senior organisational levels, especially for tender reviews.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and CRM systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
Tenacity and resilience under challenging workloads.
Ability to manage workload and prioritise tasks within a team.
Leadership skills and the ability to inspire positive change.
Professionalism in external and internal interactions.
Strong organisational skills and accuracy in a busy commercial environment.

Fluency in additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese (verbal and written).
Knowledge of export processes, Incoterms, and payment terms.
