About The ApprenticeshipMaintenance Technician- Maintenance Engineers carry out scheduled maintenance & breakdown repairs on complex machinery such as large CNC machines, chemical treatment plants & equipment. Maintenance Engineers need to have an analytical approach, as they will be involved in problem solving & cross-functional communication.
During your Apprenticeship, you will develop skills/knowledge including:
- Machine diagnostics including repair & scheduled maintenance of CNC, conventional machines & treatment facilities
- Understanding of electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- An understanding of manufacturing processes & procedures
Year 1: The majority of your first year will be working offsite at college. Towards the end of the first year, you will undertake a return to site induction followed by onsite GKN training.
Years 2 & 3:You will undertake Business Familiarisation rotation placements within your occupational role area. During your placements, you will document work that you complete & review this regularly with your GKN training advisor.
Year 4: You will complete your Level 4 Technical Certificate & continue on-the-job training in your final department. This is where you will complete your Level 3 Competence Qualification as well as your End Point Assessment.
- To observe the companys terms & conditions of employment.
- In both work & training, to be diligent, punctual & attend courses, keep records & take tests to be determined by the company in order to achieve the training objectives & quality gates
- To behave in a responsible manner & in accordance with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation relating to the individuals responsibilities.
- To promote the companys name & image with respect & diplomacy.
- To successfully complete all activities documented in the Apprentice Training Agreement.
