Job Description

Our reinsurance industry client, with international operations, is seeking to appoint a Syndicate Insurance Technician to manage the technical accounting and bordereaux administration process for Syndicate 3456. The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end bordereaux validation, payment, and data processing, support business decisions and drive operational improvements. Experience in Lloyd’s market technical accounting and bordereaux operations is essential along with strong communication and problem-solving abilities. This key role will involve establishing new processes and controls for an expanding Lloyd’s syndicate, with opportunities for role growth as the business develops.


The role will report directly to the Head of Finance – UK.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Entering premium and claims information into the Syndicate’s systems (Underwriting Workbench and IRIS)
  • Update internal bordereaux management systems and perform underwriting validation controls.
  • Monitor signings received from Xchanging and ensure timely resolution of queries and settlement of premiums.
  • Follow-up on accounts receivable information as required.
  • Maintain efficient documentation filing system. Ensure that files are appropriately processed and quality control checks are performed on all documentation.
  • Ensure coverholders adhere to Lloyd’s reporting standards.
  • Ability to problem-solve, reconcile accounts, bordereaux, and declarations. Identify anomalies in bordereaux and amend where necessary
  • Act as the subject matter expert and primary liaison for bordereaux matters, addressing queries and escalating issues where necessary.
  • Liaise with the DA and underwriting team and ensure bordereaux reporting requirements are implemented consistently across all binders.
  • Respond to all bordereaux-related queries internally and externally.
  • Design and implement effective processes for the early-stage syndicate, coordinating new workflows and controls.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for bordereaux management are regularly kept up to date
  • Continually seek to improve processes and suggest improvements to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Actively monitor and track KPIs, including reporting timelines, collections, and data quality improvements.
  • Provide technical insight and advice on Lloyd’s market bordereaux to team members.
  • Ensure new contracts are set up within internal underwriting systems in a timely fashion
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks that may arise from time to time as specified by the line manager
  • Oversee the end-to-end premiums & claims bordereaux process, ensuring validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting at all stages.


General Requirements ·

  • Strong knowledge of Lloyd’s and London market operations
  • Experience in booking (re)insurance contracts
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bordereaux processing/operations is essential
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks, prioritise workload, and adapt to changing priorities with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage internal stakeholders, coverholders, and brokers.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven analytical skills and technical expertise in bordereaux management
  • Experience working in a Binding Authority process is preferred
  • Ability to develop standard processes for any recurring tasks
  • In-depth understanding of Lloyd’s Xchanging system with the ability to monitor signings.
  • Proficient in using bordereaux and data management systems as well as Microsoft Excel. Experience using IRIS would be advantageous.
  • Innovative mindset with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
