Job Title: Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join our team at the Butterkist popcorn factory. As a key member of our Engineering function, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and maintenance engineering service to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintenance of production and ancillary equipment, property, and facilities to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with production requirements.
  • Creation of Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules, maintenance record-keeping, and data entry within specified timescales.
  • Hosting contractors on site, ensuring necessary documentation is available, and safe working practices are agreed upon prior to work commencement.
  • Responding to production requests for engineering assistance and monitoring visual management boards to address flagged items.
  • Collaborating with production teams to enhance their knowledge of equipment and ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Adhering to policies, procedures, and food quality management systems, as well as retailer-specific technical standards.
  • Participating in health and safety initiatives, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and safe working practices.

Equipment and Machinery:

The successful candidate will have experience working with a range of equipment, including bagging machines, automated case packing machinery, and industrial oil popping and frying machines.

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Mechanical or electrical experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
