Job Title: Senior Environmental Advisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our environmental management team, you will play a critical role in implementing our environmental policies and strategies, ensuring legislative compliance, and promoting continuous improvement in environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, improve, and develop environmental management systems processes and procedures
  • Liaise with external parties and regulators, such as the Environmental Agency
  • Oversee all environmental data, in line with internal and external reports requirements
  • Develop meaningful strategies to promote a positive step change in all aspects of environmental management and behaviors
  • Support our net zero ambition for our business and customers
  • Provide specialist advice on all business environmental aspects and impacts, waste, water management, permits, and licenses
  • Lead on our 14001 accreditation
  • Support environmental internal and external audits
  • Assist in any significant environmental incident investigations that may occur
  • Benchmark externally, seeking out areas of best practice and continual improvement

Requirements:

  • National Grid/Cadent/SGN experience desirable
  • Exceptional knowledge of environmental legislation and applied controls
  • Experience in providing environmental advice in both office and field workforce environments
  • The ability to demonstrate experience in design, build, and improve environmental management systems in line with 14001
  • Possess excellent stakeholder management attributes with the ability and confidence to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Courage and confidence to challenge issues and behaviors
  • The ability to convey complex information in a simple, effective, and plain language
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to work to strict timely deadlines
