Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our team, responsible for implementing and promoting our environmental policies and strategies. As a trusted advocate, you will provide specialist advice, coaching, and engagement to support the business in achieving its sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve environmental management systems processes and procedures
  • Liaise with external parties and regulators, such as the Environmental Agency
  • Oversee all environmental data, in line with internal and external reports requirements
  • Develop meaningful strategies to promote a positive step change in environmental management and behaviours
  • Support our net zero ambition for our business and customers
  • Provide specialist advice on business environmental aspects and impacts, waste, water management, permits, and licenses
  • Lead on our 14001 accreditation
  • Support environmental internal and external audits
  • Assist in significant environmental incident investigations
  • Benchmark externally, seeking out areas of best practice and continual improvement

Requirements

  • National Grid/Cadent/SGN experience desirable
  • Exceptional knowledge of environmental legislation and applied controls
  • Experience in providing environmental advice in office and field workforce environments
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in design, build, and improve environmental management systems in line with 14001
  • Excellent stakeholder management attributes, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Courage and confidence to challenge issues and behaviours
  • Ability to convey complex information in simple, effective, and plain language
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to work to strict timely deadlines
