Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and growing multi-disciplinary Community CAMHS team based in Nottinghamshire. The team provides innovative and evidence-based interventions to children and young people presenting with a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties.

As a CAMHS Specialist Mental Health Practitioner, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, offering consultation, assessment, and evidence-based interventions to children and young people. You will work closely with other professionals to provide a comprehensive service that meets the needs of children and young people and their families.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant professional qualification, registration with a relevant professional body, and experience of providing mental health assessments and interventions to service users presenting with a wide range of different emotional and mental health needs. You will also have the ability to engage and develop therapeutic relationships with service users, experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working, and experience in the provision of evidence-based treatments and interventions.

This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2-year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

Provide mental health assessments and formulations
Build therapeutic relationships with children and young people and deliver evidence-based interventions
Care coordinate an agreed caseload
Liaise with and offer consultation to other agencies
Participate in the enquiries rota
Contribute to all aspects of positive team functioning
Contribute to ongoing service innovations and development
Provide Waiting Well calls to young people while they wait for assessment, or commencement of treatment

Person Specification

Relevant professional qualifications (RMN/RN/HV/OT/Clinical Psychology/Social Worker at degree level or higher teaching qualification)
Registration with relevant professional body
Experience of providing mental health assessments and intervention to service users presenting with a wide range of different emotional and mental health needs
Ability to engage and develop therapeutic relationships with service users
Experience of multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
Experience in provision of evidence-based treatments and interventions
Experience in the meaningful use of Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS) in clinical practice
Proven ability to undertake accurate risk assessment and management plans
Proven ability to recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns
Proven ability to manage a defined caseload and organise diary schedule
Ability to maintain accurate case records in line with Trust policies and procedures
Ability to use electronic data recording systems
Experience of using clinical supervision effectively to enhance practice and client outcomes
Ability to be an autonomous practitioner whilst being able to work as an integral part of the MDT

Desirable

Experience of providing mental health assessments and intervention to children & young people & their families/carers
Experience in providing evidence-based treatments and interventions to children, young people and their families/carers
Ability to engage and develop therapeutic relationships with children, young people and their families/carers
Experience of using ROMS with children, young people and their families/carers
Proven ability to undertake risk assessment and management plans with children, young people and their families/carers
Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentorship
Experience of delivering treatment groups

Contractual Requirements

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post
