Are you passionate about transportation infrastructure and eager to develop your skills in a dynamic environment? Waterman Aspen is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Highway Inspector to join our West Midlands team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support experienced Highways Inspectors in conducting site visits and surveys to assess highway assets.
  • Provide technical support and assistance in maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless project delivery and meet client expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive team culture.
Requirements:
  • Essential:
    • Support an experienced Highways Inspector to drive to various sites.
    • Support an experienced highways inspector and provide support on site whilst undertaking surveys / assessment of highways assets as required.
    • Have clean UK driving licence and be able to travel to the depots as required. A Chapter 8 marked van will be provided by the client to visit sites.
    • Excellent inter-personal and customer service skills, be able to deal with a range of issues and conflicting demands whilst adhering to relevant legislation.
    • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines and keeping calm under pressure.
    • Demonstrate a positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Desirable:
    • Have some understanding of highway maintenance.
    • Be willing to learn and develop a career in highways maintenance.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, SharePoint and safety inspection systems such as CONFIRM.
    • Awareness of relevant legislation and codes of practice such as Highways Act 1980 and Well Managed Highway Infrastructure.
