We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleAs a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for leading a team in delivering high-quality care to patients in our inpatient ward. You will work closely with colleagues and have ongoing input from the team, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
You will have your own office space and will be supported by an experienced medical assistant. This is a substantive and full-time post, but we are open to part-time or fixed-term applicants. Remote working options are also available.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a team in delivering care in the inpatient ward

- MBBS (or equivalent)
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- Included on GMC Specialist Register (Old Age Psychiatry) or eligible for inclusion, or a trainee within six months of CCT
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
- Approved Clinician Status
- Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
- Has undergone training in educational supervision
- Has undergone training in appraisal
- Up to date knowledge in the field of Old Age Psychiatry
- Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy, and legislation
- An area of special interest relevant to the post as demonstrated by publications or presentations to learned societies
- High level of clinical skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders in Old Age Psychiatry
- Excellent teaching skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a time-efficient manner
- Established record of clinical leadership
- Established ability as a clinical teacher
- Training in specific and relevant treatment skills, e.g., a brief form of psychological therapy
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year pro rata for part-time.
