Job Title: Financial Support Officer - Swindon Borough Council

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Support Officer to join our team at Swindon Borough Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial support to residents of Swindon, helping them to manage their financial obligations and access the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide financial support to residents of Swindon, including assistance with council tax liabilities and benefit claims
* Work closely with external support agencies, such as the Citizen Advice Bureau, to provide a comprehensive support service
* Develop and maintain relationships with residents, community groups, and other stakeholders to promote the First Steps programme
* Identify and trial techniques to encourage customer engagement and improve the effectiveness of the support service
* Ensure accurate and timely delivery of management information
* Complete applications and changes in relation to Housing and Council Tax benefit claims
* Work with Citizens Advice and other Support Agencies to ensure vulnerable customers are receiving the support they need

Requirements:

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a minimum 5 grades A-C or levels 9 – 4, including English and Maths
* Experience of working in a customer-facing role, with a focus on providing financial support and guidance
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
* Good analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently
* Ability to work as part of a team, with a focus on delivering departmental objectives
