Senior Business Finance Controller Job Description

Our prestigious client in Thame is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Business Finance Controller to join their expanding Finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for various aspects of Trade and Financial Accounting, working in a dynamic, international, and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare timely and accurate trade results and balance sheets for the business at a commodity level, with responsibilities over mark-to-market valuations of derivatives, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare group reporting information and documentation.
  • Support management through the provision of high-quality financial information to different stakeholders throughout the organization, on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Build excellent working relationships with stakeholders locally, throughout the group, and externally.
  • Participate in IT and other projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting and reporting processes, including system changes and development.
  • Participate in and support the implementation of SOX within the business.
  • Assist with both internal and external audit processes.
  • Complete annual statutory accounts and other external reporting requirements.
  • Ensure IFRS and US GAAP compliance, as well as involvement in complex accounting matters.
  • Manage supplier and customer relationships, including KYC compliance, credit control, and ledger scrutiny.
  • Monitor and process employee expenses.
  • Prepare and submit Corporation Tax and VAT reports and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CGMA/CPA or international equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in auditing complex large businesses or as a business controller, with experience in an audit firm preferred.
  • Advanced IT skills in MS Office.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP and related systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS.
Desirable Skills:
  • Working knowledge of OneStream.
  • Experience of working in an audit firm.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX.
