May & Stephens is a luxury English brand specializing in craft silver and leather items. We are seeking a highly experienced Import Export Manager to join our team in East London on a permanent, full-time basis.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Import Export Manager to oversee the distribution of our luxury goods. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in customs, imports, and exports, as well as proven stock management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control inward IPR shipments, ensuring correct customs procedures are used and goods are received and quality-checked within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Import and export shipments, managing the distribution team to ensure orders are delivered to a high standard, safely, and on time.
  • Update and manage aspects of the Production Report, including tracking and chasing inward shipments from suppliers.
  • Manage in-house corporate personalizing and engraving schedules, goods receipt, and stock control.
  • Ensure all workshop shipments are passed on to the workshop team for QC and labelling before storing.
  • Update and disseminate a Day-End Report to all relevant staff on all goods in and goods out.
  • Ensure stock items are protected and stored appropriately, and the warehouse is always kept neat and orderly.
  • Record all stock movements, track and control samples, including high-value and bespoke items.
  • Perform quarterly stock takes, investigate any differences, and report results.
  • Run and update monthly stock reports, including bespoke items.
  • Control movement of tooling, ensuring project stock is labelled and stored safely.
  • Ensure finished project components are stored safely.
  • Take full control of the warehouse, ensuring it is a 'closed system' – products/components can only go in/out through yourself.
  • Ensure all issues are reported/logged, be it supplier, quality, internal, or courier-related.
  • Provide accurate and timely delivery quotes to the sales team, identifying different options and costs, including allowances for duties and taxes.
  • Control outward shipments of IPR shipments, ensuring all documentation is logged for quarterly review.
  • Organize and schedule sales order deliveries, ensuring all details are correct, and for overseas deliveries, paperwork is complete and accurate.

Requirements:

  • Ability to develop and mentor Distribution Team staff.
  • Highly experienced in customs, imports, and exports.
  • Proven stock management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use and improve internal systems, including procedures and controls.
  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of luxury products.
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge.
  • Full, clean driving license is an essential requirement.
  • Health and safety awareness.
