Infant Feeding Peer Support Coordinator

Job Summary
The post holder will support the implementation of the trust's infant feeding peer support strategy, with specific responsibility for the development and coordination of volunteer infant feeding supporters within a hospital and community setting.
The post holder will develop a welcoming volunteer peer support program with appropriate training and supervision, working closely as part of the infant feeding team to recruit and train volunteers to support women who wish to breastfeed.
Main Duties of the Job
- Organize and oversee the recruitment process for potential breastfeeding volunteers.
- Ensure all training and induction is fulfilled.
- Provide a warm and informed presence for volunteers.
- Understand and respect the need for confidentiality amongst staff, volunteers, and patients.
- Act as a link person between the peer support and the Infant Feeding Team.
- Support and facilitate regular supervision and training updates in line with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards.
- Deal with any conflict, complaints as appropriate, and refer to line management for support.
- Support with workshops to raise awareness for local parents about the importance of breastfeeding and the support needed to breastfeed successfully.
