Job Title: Datacentre Network Operations Expert

British Telecom operates a complex network infrastructure, supporting the delivery of critical services to customers. To maintain our high standards of service, we require an experienced professional to join our team as a Datacentre Network Operations Expert.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is £55,000 - £75,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location.

Job Description:

This role involves working closely with senior engineers, focusing on seamless day-to-day operations and nurturing junior talent in automation and system administration. You will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of our network and infrastructure, contributing to ongoing engineering improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, build, testing, maintenance, and support of infrastructure and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and implement changes in daily network operations while monitoring performance.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and system management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and Git.
  • Contribute to network upgrades and cloud migration projects to meet business connectivity needs.
  • Configure network hardware (physical and virtual) and work on private cloud and data centre environments.
  • Provide operational support, including incident management and improving workflows.
  • Document processes, solutions, and network health reports to support knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with LINUX and network infrastructure management.
  • Experience working in technical environments, managing or leading projects.
  • Ability to suggest improvements or cost-saving measures.
  • Strong stakeholder relationships and ability to work through challenging situations.
