Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to play a pivotal role in Medicines Safety and Clinical Governance across Whittington Health NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy, excellent communication skills, and a passion for promoting a positive safety culture.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading on patient safety and clinical governance initiatives relating to medicines management, including Controlled Drugs.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver the trust's medication safety programme, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Person Specification
- MPharm (or equivalent)
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Further postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy Practice or Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Desirable Criteria
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and relevant professional clinical group
- Independent prescriber
- Leadership or Management qualification
Skills and Abilities
- High-level clinical skills sufficient to engage in dialogue with senior clinicians
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good negotiation skills and ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff
- Experience of supervising and training junior pharmacists
- Experience of providing education and training to pharmacy staff, nursing staff, and doctors
Knowledge and Experience
- Good understanding of the role of medication safety and clinical governance in the acute setting
- Relevant clinical experience from working in areas linked to General Medicine
- Experience of working in an acute hospital setting
- Appropriate knowledge of the legal requirements when dealing with and processing Controlled Drugs
