Child Psychologist Leader

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Practitioner Psychologist to lead and further develop a high-quality, responsive, and accessible multidisciplinary team for children, young people, their families, and carers in Hillside Secure Children's Home, Neath. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining an overall vision for the service and ensuring operationalisation of that vision in practice.
The post holder will be professionally embedded in Swansea Bay Child Psychology and will be a valued member of the Professional Leads group. They will be welcomed into the broader Swansea Bay Child Psychology network and will be expected to play an active role in collaborating with other child psychologists on joint projects and initiatives.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in partnership with the Adult MH Division to ensure appropriate leadership, governance, and management structures are in place. They will be supported in the provision of psychological interventions to Hillside by a Full-Time 8a Psychologist and Part-Time Family Therapist and will be expected to ensure a robust psychological assessment, formulation, and care and treatment plan is in place for each child.
The lead psychologist will ensure systems are in place for reviewing and evaluating the service, and for ensuring good clinical governance across the MDT. They will help to ensure other psychologists and psychological therapists, MDT team members have appropriate support and supervision in place and are enabled to develop their professional competencies and careers.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading and developing a high-quality, responsive, and accessible multidisciplinary team for children, young people, their families, and carers in Hillside Secure Children's Home, Neath.
- Developing and maintaining an overall vision for the service and ensuring operationalisation of that vision in practice.
- Working in partnership with the Adult MH Division to ensure appropriate leadership, governance, and management structures are in place.
- Ensuring a robust psychological assessment, formulation, and care and treatment plan is in place for each child.
- Ensuring systems are in place for reviewing and evaluating the service, and for ensuring good clinical governance across the MDT.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have:
- Professional qualifications and post-qualification training/study.
- Substantial experience of application of knowledge.
- Appropriate experience in a child setting.
- Appropriate experience in a mental health setting.
- Training and experience in supervision.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
