Job Description:

As a Strategic Commercial Lead for Wales and Western Region, you will be responsible for managing a diverse set of teams providing commercial support across business units and functions in the region. You will lead the development and implementation of complex commercial funding strategies and third-party and industry commercial strategies.

This role requires strong commercial leadership skills with experience in negotiating commercial arrangements and substantial knowledge of construction and third-party contracts and contract requirements. You will also need to have practitioner experience of risk management and contracts assurance.

You will work closely with stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams to coordinate activities and provide commercial support and guidance as required while ensuring compliance with internal governance policies.

The post is responsible for commercially managing the delivery of frameworks supporting multi-million-pound projects within Wales & Western Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement complex commercial funding strategies.
  • Lead commercial activity compliant with Network Rail policies, procedures, and governance and legal (including EU Directives) and regulatory requirements.
  • Influence and liaise with other Industry and national programmes to manage consistency in the commercial approach to supply market.
  • Identify key commercial and contractual risks to business and manage contracts to mitigate risk.

Requirements:

  • Proven commercial leadership at a functional level.
  • Successful experience in negotiating commercial arrangements.
  • Substantial experience in setting up, implementing, and running 3rd Party financing and commercial arrangements.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction and third-party contracts and contract requirements.
  • Practitioner experience of risk management and contracts assurance.
