Salary: £24,000

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team at Gov Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) as an Escort / Fabric Operative. This role is a critical part of our Facilities Maintenance Team, responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of HMP Lewes.

About the Role

As an Escort / Fabric Operative, you will work alongside experienced colleagues to maintain the prison's facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks to ensure the prison's facilities are in good working order
  • Assist in the maintenance of the prison's fabric, including repairs and replacements
  • Work with the Facilities Maintenance Team to ensure the smooth operation of the prison
  • Provide support to prisoners and staff in maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a prison environment or a similar setting
  • Experience of using hand and power tools
  • Previous experience of working in a building fabric or hard FM environment
  • Up-to-date First Aid at Work qualification
  • Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
  • Good Health and Safety knowledge
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and people skills
