Lead Tools Engineer Role Overview
- Cultivate the professional growth of the Tools team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality work by implementing robust automated testing processes across all projects.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them enhance their skills and technical expertise.
- Review and approve technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and clarity for all team members.
- Plan and execute all assigned tasks for the Tools team, effectively managing resources and timelines.
- Collaborate closely with content development teams to optimize tool usage and streamline workflows.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact your team or the overall project.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across all aspects of the Tools team's operations.
- Cultivate a collaborative and creative team environment where innovation and knowledge sharing are encouraged.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Tools Engineer on AAA game development projects.
- Familiarity with industry-standard DCC tools such as 3DS Max, Maya, Substance Suite, and Houdini.
- A genuine passion for tools development and enhancing the overall work environment for developers.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and sharing your technical expertise.
- Solid understanding of code architecture best practices and software design principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
- A deep passion for gaming and the game development industry.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 on AAA projects.
- Previous experience leading an Engineering team within a game development studio.
- Experience supporting remote teams and fostering effective collaboration across geographical locations.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver large-scale projects from conception to completion.
