Join Our Team as a Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry

Cygnet is a leading provider of specialist mental health services, and we are seeking an exceptional Specialty Doctor to join our team at Cygnet Wallace Hospital.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to provide high-quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will assess referrals, undertake mental state examinations, and participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and attend multidisciplinary meetings
  • Attend Care Programme Approach and Section 117 meetings and mental health review tribunals
  • Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
  • Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
  • Audit medical services and ensure compliance with GMC and other professional guidelines
  • Uphold policies and procedures and contribute to service governance and development
  • Participate in the 1:5 on-call rota

Requirements

  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • AMP (Approved Medical Practitioner) status or eligibility to apply for it
  • Experienced within a mental health setting
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation and codes of practice
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgment and ability to manage risk
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Preferably approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent

Cygnet's CESR programme will help you develop the skills you need to progress to Consultant level, with opportunities to rotate within wards and services to gain valuable experience across various subspecialties.
