Join Our Team as a Specialty Doctor in Adult Psychiatry

We are seeking an exceptional Specialty Doctor to join our team at Cygnet Wallace Hospital in Dundee. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in shaping our services and providing high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our team and contribute to the delivery of our services. You will work closely with our Consultant Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

As a Specialty Doctor, you will be responsible for assessing referrals, undertaking mental state examinations, and participating in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. You will also be expected to provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings and ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned.

Requirements
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • AMP (Approved Medical Practitioner) status or eligibility to apply for it
  • Experienced within a mental health setting
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation and codes of practice
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgment and ability to manage risk
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Preferably a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent
Our CESR Programme

This programme will help you develop the skills you need to progress to Consultant level and you will rotate within wards/services to gain valuable experience across various subspecialties.
