We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Supervisor to join our team at Birtwistles Catering Butchers. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of all aspects of transport and goods dispatch from our Milton Keynes depot.
This is a business-critical role, and you will be overseeing the entire operation in the absence of the Transport Operations Manager. You will be working closely with our management team to ensure that all aspects of the operation are running efficiently and effectively.
Main Responsibilities- Depot Management: You will be responsible for opening the depot, setting up the daily operation, and ensuring the overall security of the site.
- Maintenance and Cleaning: You will be responsible for maintaining the depot, including basic maintenance and cleaning.
- Unloading and Loading: You will be responsible for unloading two trucks delivering to the depot with the daily deliveries and organizing, overseeing, and loading vehicles with the loading team.
- Route Planning: You will be responsible for developing and allocating delivery routes to all drivers, reacting to any absences, and ensuring all vehicles are dispatched.
- Communication: You will be responsible for communicating with colleagues regarding any issues that arise due to vehicle accidents, breakdowns, traffic hold-ups, etc.
- Reporting: You will be responsible for daily reporting to the Transport Operations Manager.
- Customer Service: You will be responsible for acting as a communication liaison and answering incoming phone calls from drivers, cultivating strong relationships with drivers and customers.
- Leadership Skills: You will have strong leadership skills and be able to motivate and lead a team.
- IT Skills: You will have good IT skills, particularly knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Communication Skills: You will have good communication skills, verbal and written, and be able to interact and communicate with people across all levels of the business.
- Reliability: You will have a good record of reliability in terms of attendance and punctuality.
- Organizational Skills: You will be organized and able to prioritize workload.
- FLT Licence: You will hold a FLT licence.
- Change Management: You will be willing to embrace change and be able to identify areas for improvement.
- Independence: You will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Initiative: You will be proactive and able to use initiative.
- Full UK Driving Licence: You will hold a full UK driving licence.
