Simpson Millar: A Leading Law Firm Seeking a Skilled Legal Risk Assessor

We are currently looking for an experienced Legal Risk Assessor to join our Injury Practice Department at Simpson Millar. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough risk assessments of new enquiries received into the business for the Injury Practice Area.

Your primary objective will be to review initial leads, communicate with clients, and conduct investigations to determine the viability of cases. This will enable us to make informed decisions on whether to transfer cases to our Legal Team.

As a Legal Risk Assessor, you will be working across various areas of the Injury Practice Area, including Clinical Negligence, RTA, ELPL, and Military. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting risk assessments within the Injury Practice Area.
  2. Ensuring risk assessments are reviewed for quality and tracked within governance SLAs.
  3. Supporting training initiatives to enhance business development and training.
  4. Developing a clear and effective process for capturing risk assessment information.
  5. Ensuring all risk assessment processes are completed.
  6. Working with case management systems, databases, and standard office IT systems.
  7. Adhering to and promoting compliance with the firm's policies, practices, and procedures, as well as relevant quality standards.
  8. Meeting performance targets, including completing 90% of risk assessments within 1 hour and 95% within stated time SLAs.
  9. Ensuring all Risk & Governance policies are followed in accordance with business policy.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Experience working in a law firm or similar environment.
  2. The ability to make informed decisions on the likelihood of success and value of a claim with limited information.
  3. Experience working in a regulated environment with appropriate record keeping and quality standards.
  4. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in case management systems, databases, and standard office software.
